We Will Start Employing Expertise to Handle GHAMBRO’s Affairs Very Soon…We are just Overseers + Outlines other Interventions – CHAMBRO’s Chairman Kojo Antwi reveals

 

Ghana’s only government approved copyright organization for music right owners in the country which is responsible for collecting, distributing royalties etc among music right owners and the likes had their election for the first time in ages just last week.

In a radio interview with Agyeman nie on Rainbow radio, the chairman of Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMBRO) revealed that there will be total separation of the board from the management. He said, “There will be a total separation of the board, we will be employing expertise to handle the job and we will make sure we pay them very well so that they can give off their best”.

When he was asked why they have decided to employ expertise to handle the job instead of they, as in those who were elected into the various offices to do the job that was assigned to them, he commented, “The work at GHAMBRO is just not the one that meets the eye, how can just eight (8) people run the affairs at GHAMBRO? That’s why we have decided to seek the services of those who are well vested in that area to do the job. We will just be the overseers at GHAMBRO, we will give them set targets to meet, and at the end of every month, we review their works, and pay them appropriately so that they do not give us any shoddy work”.

He enumerated the following among other interventions they will be putting in place at GHAMBRO sooner than later:

-          Separating the board from the management

-          Licensing

-          Set up a proper welfare system

-          Engage the immediate past members of the board during their decision making activities

-          Sign an agreement with other copyright agencies in various countries

-          Opening of various accounts such as Welfare account, Royalty account, Undistributed account, Distributed account among other accounts

The host sited instances where his immediate predecessors often than not neglected the media during their tenure in office, and asked him how their relationship with the media will be like. The music maestro revealed that he will soon announce the spokesperson of GHAMBRO, and that the media won’t in any way be shrouded during his 2-year tenure as the Chairman at all.

The current administration of GHAMBRO comprises of Julius Kojo Antwi, James Kwaku Tuffor, Ahmed Banda, Diana Hopeson, Zapp Mallet, Mary Ghansah among others.
