Multiple award-winning African
dancehall king, Samini has waded into the Shatta Wale-Charterhouse VGMAs
brouhaha. According to him, awards are interesting, and it becomes normal to
you as an artiste if you have won many nods and that people who go haywire if
they don’t win, are those that have just started receiving awards in their
musical career.
When asked by the host Kafui
Dey on GHONE TV what he made of the Shatta Wale-Charterhouse VGMAs brouhaha, he
said, “it depends on what there is to Charterhouse and the artiste, I’m not
privy to it. If they feel like he’s qualified, fine. But for me awards are
interesting, and if you have won many awards and still winning like me, it
becomes normal to you, you don’t get peeved or react to it someway if it doesn’t
go your way.
As to whether he enjoys Shatta
Wale’s Kakai and can even sing along, he said, ‘Kakai is a catchy song, and of course it’s a banger, but I don’t know the lyrics and therefore cannot sing along”.
Samini has just released his 6
studio album, titled ‘Breaking News’ which has tunes such as Drop that gun
which is banging out loud on the airwaves.
