Award songs that are not only popular but also extremely creative – Kofi Kinaata and Donzy beg VGMAs

The 17^th Edition of the prestigious Vodafone Ghana Music Awards is slated for late April this year, and ahead of the event proper, the talk-talk has started.

Hiphop artistes Kofi Kinaata and Donzy have implored the VGMAs board to award songs that are not only popular but extremely creative. According to them, this will motivate other artistes to not only focus on churning out songs that have danceable beats but also with great lyrical contents. This they revealed in an interview with Amanda Jissih on Hitz Fm.

When asked by the host about their views regarding this year’s VGMAs, they said, “We are very hopeful of awards, even though our main focus is not solely on winning the VGMAs, all we ask the VGMAs board is to award songs that are not only popular but extremely creative since they know more about the technicalities involved than the public.”

They continued, “With this, it will force musicians to think outside the box, they won’t just rush into the studios and do anything, and it will force them to be more creative in the songs they churn out since some artistes are just focused on bringing out songs that have danceable beats but no great lyrical content.”

Kofi Kinaata and Donzy have one great creative collaborative song titled, ‘crusade’ which has been banging out loud in the year under review.
