The Photo above is Ghana’s First Miss Ghana (1957), and her name is Monica Amekoafia. 

She represented then Trans Volta Togoland now known as Volta Region, and she was the 9^th contestant. 

From the start of the contest (Miss Ghana 1957), she was the crowd's favourite through to the end. Monica will forever go down in history as the woman whose ticket people from the Volta Region earned the ‘Number 9’ nickname.

So Ewes you see, when someone calls you ‘Number 9’, it’s no insults at all!
