I Don’t Hate Sarkodie, I’m Just Correcting Him that he didn't make any history – Quophi Okyeame reveals

TV/Radio presenter, Okyeame Quophi says his comments after Sarkodie’s concert at the Appollo Theater in New York should not make Ghanaians think that he hates the rapper. The former member of Akyeame in an interview on Radio Univers said his Facebook post was to correct Sarkodie because the last time he let such a mistake happen, it went against him.

“I don’t have anything against Sarkodie in anyway. I’m not in his league and he is not in my. I’m coming from a different generation and he is coming from another.”

The husband of TV presenter Stacy Amoateng talking about the purpose of his post said “the intent was to correct history. It was to bring people to the same level. I said if making history is playing at the Appollo and he is doing it for the first time, then that is distortion. That is not the truth but the truth is Akyeame and Lumba played Apollo for the first time. If you don’t know, it doesn’t mean it did not happen”.

He made it clear that “I don’t have anything against Sarkodie. I think he is a wonderful artiste. He is an artiste who has done stuffs that probably my generation I couldn’t achieve but in my own little right, what I have achieved, I won’t let anybody crumble on that”

On complains that the timing of his post was wrong, Quophi question “what is the right time to tell the truth?”

He continued that he does not sing hiplife to make money anymore so he does not need any shine so Ghanaians who are saying he is stealing Sarkodie’s shine should stop that.

“You say I’m stealing who’s shine? I don’t need hiplife to make money anymore. I’ve got businesses. I’m a busy man. I’m telling my kids what I have done in the past, the things that I’m proud of”

Reacting to Reggie Rockstone’s comments that Daddy Lumaba was the headline artiste for the 2000 concert held at the Appollo Theater but Sarkodie is the only hiplife artiste to organize a sold out show at the same venue thereby making that a history, he said “Reggie Rockstone wanted to be on that show but he couldn’t get that chance.

I think Reggie will be the last person for you to talk to about this thing because he is looking at me from the corner of his eyes because of the song I wrote for ex doe which is the maba song. So he has even blacklisted me in his books.”

Quophie Okyeame further stated that Charterhouse did same mistake to Akyeame when they were celebrating their 10 years anniversary.

Its like Charterhouse. When Charterhouse was celebrating their 10 years anniversary, they listed everybody who has won an award with them. Akyeame was the first to win a Hiplife rap song award but Charterhouse did not list it and you said what, I should have waited for the right time? They published that paper. Our name were not in there so I told my kids I won that award. I’m I a liar? The time to tell the truth is now.
