GFA should consider patterning with Musicians and Celebrities in order to draw in more numbers at our stadiums – Bola Ray

Our local league is not well patronized lately. You would get to the stadium and few supporters are there to cheer their clubs up. It’s only when there is a football match between Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak that you would see supporters thronged the stadium in their numbers. Lots of People are saying the local league is dying as the day goes by.

Chief Executive Officer of EIB group of Companies, Bola Ray in an interview with Nana Aba Anamoah on TV3 has advised the GFA authorities to consider inviting musicians and various celebrities to match days, this he said would at least help get more people to turn up at our stadiums.

He said, “It’s very pathetic that people are not patronizing our local league lately, and I don’t think this speaks well for a country like Ghana where we see ourselves as a football loving country. What stops us from using our musicians and our celebrities to draw in the numbers week after week? 

"The authorities can just advertise it on TV or radio that this week Lil Win is coming to the stadium, that Kyeiwaa is coming this week, they will have the numbers, some are assured they are going to the stadium to meet their stars and at least take pictures with them. Even if it’s 1 cedi or 2 cedis they are charging, they get the numbers, more money and they settle the celebrities as well.”

He went on to add that the Ghana Football Authorities should introduce something like, ‘Sportstainment’. “there should be something like ‘sportstainment’ where people can decide that this Saturday I’m coming to the stadium with my family. It even creates lots of employment as well as axillary businesses at the stadium. 

"Performances during half time is key. They know that Gasmilla is performing this week. Just imagine a football match between Olympics and Hearts of Oak and Shatta Wale is performing, it will be a packed stadium hands down. It’s simple, the authorities get Shatta Wale to the stadium, they get the people, they make the money and they settle Shatta Wale as well.” he advised
