Multiple award-winning dancehall
artist, Shatta Wale has revealed on the KSM show that what made him went down
the drain for 10 good years was his inability of not being real; doing what he
knew less of.
He said, “It came to a point in my
career, and I realized that I have to be who I am, that there is no need faking
it. Even though my ‘Mokoho' song was very popular, within me, I know that’s not
my genre.
He added that what also contributed
to his hibernation for 10 years was that Djs haven’t been supportive, and as
well event organizers treated him so badly. He said, “They stopped
playing my songs on radio for 7- 8 years and I learnt a lot during those times.
Those are the days when you put my name
on shows without my consent.”
Shatta revealed that during his years of
hibernation, he tried to learn how to play his own beats, restructure himself
and his ways of going about stuffs and as well, it was years of prayer for him.
Shatta Wale who was so-so emotional during the
interview said, “I told God he should give me one more chance. He did not bring
me into the world to disgrace me. I prayed to God day in, day out to give
me the right beat and song. I prayed during those times when I’m
playing beats, writing songs and doing whatever…I always pray that he should give me one more chance…one
more chance.”
Wale disclosed that he’s started singing from his
days at Seven Great Princess’ Academy through to Winneba SHS and still on.
