The Accra Sports Stadium last Saturday night, became the centre of attraction as thousands of music lovers were treated to overly delivered, stellar, thrilling and electrifying performances by both old and young generation of musicians for the third annual MUSIGA MTN ALL STAR LIVE CONCERT. The concert started with lot of patrons peeved at the organizers as to the late start of the show, but once the performances started rolling, it was all excitement through to the end.

Sponsored by MTN, and with great support from TV3, Root Eye was the Mc on the night. Gospel giant, Noble Nketiah was the official headliner to mount the stage around 10:30pm thereabout, and then followed by Obaapa Christy who sent the patrons to church for close to 15 minutes. The concert also witnessed performances from Vybrant Faya, Koo Ntakra, Naterial, Rashid Mettal, dancehall diva, Kaakie. Episode and Jupitar also treated patrons to live band performance respectively, and they were loudly applauded by the patrons for their awesome delivery as well as their splendid performance on the night.

Kojo Antwi mounted the stage around 12:25am, and with great support from Nana Yaa as well as Kwame Yeboah, Kojo once again proved that he is one of the best when it comes to live band performances. Rocking n rolling patrons close to an hour of live band music, he performed songs among others like bomi nkomo, kakayi, sikadam, pour some sugar. Kojo was the first artiste on the night to ginger the not too exciting crowd up; his performance was just a quintessential one. He ended his performance around 01:18am thereabout.

Guru mounted the stage after Kojo Antwi’s performance around 01:26am, and surprisingly Guru did not engage in his so-so miming kind of performance. Guru for once was able to create a rapport between himself and the crowd, so it made his work much easier on the night. He performed songs like ‘Pooley, pooley swag, lapaz Toyota among other hit songs. He ended his performance around 01:39am.

Then came Nana Ama Mcbrown around 01:41am who did rendition of a Daddy Lumba song and as well introduced the legend on stage. As a master of his trade, performing close to an hour wasn’t a problem at all, his energy level was just something else, and as the ladies man, it wasn’t surprising as he was able to get almost all the ladies on their feet to wriggle their waists vehemently and as well sing along, whilst he kept performing hit songs upon hit songs, and no wonder he was rated by the patrons as the one who stole the show. When it got to the time he was supposed to exit the stage, the crowd was virtually begging him to stay. He ended his performance around 2:30am with his ever popular ‘yentie obia’ song as well as ‘Doctor panea’ song respectively leaving patrons to revel in amazement after he was finally done. His performance on the night was so-so exceptional!!

Samini crowned it all. His entry was greeted with loud cheers among others as the patrons rose to their feet with everyone yelling in amazement. As usual, he gave a classic performance, no two ways. He performed love rocks, music, sweet mistake among other hit songs.

But truth be told, MUSIGA seriously deserve a pat on their back for pulling such a spectacular show through. Had it not being for the too much aggressiveness of security officials as well as patrons not arriving in time for the early start of the show, this particular concert would have registered an A+ rating, no long thing.

The concert wasn’t that much publicized but it was able to attract a huge crowd, and particularly lots of high and middle class concert goers ‘repped’ in their numbers. The overly classic performances, the beautiful set design, the screen lighting system, the quality of sound were just off the hook, it was just something else. Big ups, MUSIGA as well as MTN. Thumps up
