Jose Mourinho agrees new 4-year contract extension at Chelsea with no increase in wages

Jose Mourinho contract extension Chelsea
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will be signing a 4-year contract extension with the Blues which will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2019, according to The Independent. The “Special One” joined
Chelsea for his second spell at the club in 2013 after managing Inter Milan and Real Madrid. Since his move to London, he has consistently maintained that he is happy at the club and will not want to move from the club he adores.

The Portuguese manager will reportedly continue on his current £8.5 million salary. He has not signed the contract yet, according to Dailystar, but the deal will be confirmed and announced before the start of the 2015/16 season. It means he will continue to earn £165,000-a-week in wages and will rake in £34m over the duration of the contract.

Chelsea’s gaffer guided Chelsea to the Premier League crown and Capital One Cup glory after a trophyless season in 2013/14. Mourinho’s side dominated the Premier League from start to finish facing little resistance from Manchester City, United and Arsenal as they won the league with 8 points. With new signings in Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas, the “Special One” ensured the Blues never lost the pace and eventually won the league at a canter.

Roman Abramovich doesn’t have to worry: Mourinho

When he was asked this May regarding his stay at Stamford Bridge, he said: “Mr (Roman) Abramovich needs to be very calm. I am in his hands. I want to stay, I don't want to leave. I am not asking for a better contract. I am very, very calm. He doesn't need to be worried, he has me.
"If he wants me to stay, I'm staying. When he wants me to leave, I leave. I know he wants me next season because I am working. A ten-year contract is not important."
Incidently, Mourinho becomes the first Chelsea manager to sign a contract extension in the Abramovich era and also remains the highest paid manager (€18m) ahead of the likes of Carlo Ancelotti (€15.5m), Pep Guardiola (€15.2m), Arsene Wenger (€11.3m) and Louis van Gaal (€10m).

Mourinho’s assistants also handed new contracts

Mourinho’s assistants Rui Faria and Silvinho Louro have also been handed new contracts, according to the Standard.  Mourinho returned to the training ground on Tuesday ahead of the blues’ tour of the United States which begins on July 15.
