Big Events Ghana, the organizers of the annual Radio and Television Personalities awards for some time now has come under heavy criticism from various sections of the media regarding the production, the organization of the entire award scheme and more.  Last year’s RTP

awards would go down in the history books of the organizers as the most criticized of the awards since 2011.

When the CEO and Founder was asked why last year’s RTP awards wasn’t the best as compared to the previous years and as well came under serious attack. In a radio interview with ‘Agyemang Nie’ on Rainbow radio, McKay confirmed that yes, last year’s award wasn’t the best as compared to that of the previous years for some circumstances beyond their control and that had it not being for the timely intervention of some influential people, he is very sure there won’t be any RTP awards again.

On whether he will be organizing one this year, Prince Mckay said, “Preparations are far advanced to roll out this year’s RTP awards, and sooner than later nomination forms will be made available. Media personalities are disturbing me with their calls day-in-day-out to open nominations.”

He added that if the media personalities themselves are disturbing him to hurry up with this year’s RTP awards, then why should he be perturbed with the negative stuffs that people are saying about his RTP awards scheme.

When the host asked what are some of the benefits that his RTP awards has offered to the Ghanaian entertainment industry, he said, “Now, if you are not an RTP award winner, radio station owners won’t poach you and as well marketing and advertising companies nowadays look out for whether your show is an RTP award-winning show before they would place their adverts on your show or better still before they engage you in a mouth-watering business”.

RTP Awards basically seeks to reward radio and TV personalities who have excelled in their various endeavours in the years under review.
