Multiple award-winning duo, R2bees was on Starr drive hosted by Bola Ray
where they talked about their journey so far, about their new single ‘makoma’,
their future projects and more.
When asked what’s the inspiration behind their new single ‘makoma’, Mugeez
said, ‘We don’t write
our songs, for me I just put in the melodies and later
put in my lyrics. We just don’t know what’s that inspiration behind ‘makoma’.
R2bees disclosed on the show that it’s high time Ghanaian musicians have their
own identity, “Our music is not going anywhere because of too much photocopying
and imitation. Some of the artiste singing the dancehall cannot even speak the ‘patoi’well.
You can’t sell Jamaica to the Jamaicans, let’s get our own identity and push the
Ghanaian music industry forward”, they said. They however big up the likes of Samini, Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy for being real.
R2bees has been consistent over the years, when it comes to hit songs; you
just can’t go wrong with R2bees. Among some of their songs are, I dey mad, Odo,
Walaahi, Kill me Softly, Slow done.
They also disclosed that they are set to release two (2) new singles soon
with one featuring Davido.
