Fashion icon, Radio & TV Host and
Entrepreneur, KOD made an appearance on ETV’s Late Night Celebrity Show hosted
by Giovani on Friday where he talked about his resignation from Radio Gold
after 18 years, what’s next for him and more.
On how his radio work got started, he revealed, “It
all started in 1997, and during school vacations, I used to sell cassette at
Despite Shops, and one day, it was announced on Radio Gold that if you are
interested in the radio job, then you should apply. So I went to Kwame Faakye
who recorded my first demo, which I sent to Radio Gold.”
He added that he was then assigned to understudy
Shirley Frimpong Manso as well as Doreen Andoh, and working with them was such an
honour to him since he used to listen to them way back on radio and that it was
just a humble experience working under these two great personalities.
KOD announced his resignation on radio some few weeks
ago. When he was asked why the resignation at this point in time, KOD explained
that, “I’ve resigned after 18 years of working at Radio Gold because I believed
I’ve paid my dues to the station and I’m just taking time off to focus on my personal
projects”.
He also hasten to add that, “I have a few things
to take care of. My mom left a school which I have to take care of, I also have
a clothes brand, nineteen 1957 by KOD, which I am nurturing and I would like to
concentrate on these for a while. There is nothing like as great as managing
your own brand,” he disclosed.
When he was asked by the host whether he will no
longer use the MIC, he assured his fans that the break was only a temporary one
and he would make a comeback when the time was right. “To leave radio
permanently can’t happen in my life I will keep doing radio for as long as I
possibly can, he disclosed”.
KOD in the course of the interview was full of
gratitude to Peace fm’s Kwame Sefa Kayi. He disclosed that he has come this far
because of the guidance and the inspiration of Kwame Sefa Kayi. “Kwami has been
there for me from day one, his advice day in, day out, his guidance, support, oo
I owe it all to you, Kwame” he said.
KOD’s wife, Ophelia Crossland, has been nominated
to receive the award for Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards in the category of
