News:Oo So Sad: Kwabena Kwabena Set to Suffer Guru’s Loss as His Gospel Song, ‘Bue Kwan’ Likely or Possible Might Not To Be Nominated in This Year’s VGMAs
Multiple
award-winning hilife sensation, Kwabena Kwabena will more or less suffer Guru’s
loss at this year’s VGMA as his first ever hit gospel song ‘Bue kwan’ likely or
possible might not be nominated in this year’s VGMA.
If you’ll recall,
Guru’s ‘Lapaz toyota’ song which was then the show-stopper song, a
chart-stopper song, a song which made massive heavy rotation across the length
and breadth of the country wasn’t nominated for the VGMAs just because the song
wasn’t eligible to get nomination in the year under review since its time has
elapsed. This got Guru so furious to the extent that he was all over the place
defending why his song should have at least been considered even though it did
not cut for nomination in the year under review.Fast forward, Kwabena Kwabena’s ‘Bue Kwan’ song is one of the gospel songs that had massive heavy rotation on the various airwaves across the length and breadth of the country in 2014/2015. This song is tip by many to win at least one award at this year’s VGMA, this particular song exposed the type of gospel musicians that’s on our Ghanaian music scene now. Kwabena Kwabena proved to the core that even he, Kwabena Kwabena can sing a gospel song that would reckon force with their so-called gospel songs.
Now this is the reason why ‘Bue Kwan’ is likely or possible not to get nominated;
NOTE: It is the release year of the album
(song) that’s been considered for VGMA nominations, but not the year the
(album) song receives heavy rotations on the airwaves across the length and
breadth of the country.
Firstly, the song was released on the ‘daakye’ album. Daakye was his 4th studio album, and this album was first released on iTunes on 24th June, 2013, and as at that time, the song was selling at USD 9.90.
Daakye album which was released officially in June, 2013 contains the following songs, so the songs on the album cannot be eligible for consideration in any VGMA nominations after June, 2014. These are the songs on the daakye album;
-
Adult
Musik ft. Samini
-
Africa
Unite
-
Kyere
Wodo ft. Joojo
-
Bue
Kwan ft. Steve Bedi
-
Engya
Meho ft. Joojo
-
Begye
Me ft. Sarkodie
-
Akodim
ft. Castro
-
Maa
Abena
-
Akua
Konadu rmx
-
Adult
Musik instru.
Secondly, if you can still remember, during the Guru’s lapaz Toyota brouhaha, a certain name popped up, and that more or less, that person was the one that prevented the song from being nominated. Prior to this year’s finalization process, the person made it clear again that, it is an irrevocable decision, and that this rule seriously needs to be adhere to, and since ‘Bue Kwan’ was released on the Daakye album on June, 2013, it’s no longer valid to be nominated in this year’s VGMA.
Last but not least, the person again argued that if Adult Musik, which was even part of the Daakye album, had multiple awards at the 2014 VGMAs, then Bue kwan is no longer valid to be nominated in this year’s VGMA, since it was part and parcel of the ‘daakye’ album that contained the award-winning ‘Adult musik’ song.
Quite many do not know that ‘bue kwan’ success was hugely influenced by the release of its video in July, 2014. Charterhouse, the organizers of the VGMA all things being equal will announce the nominees list this Friday.
